The 6th “MINEX Central Asia 2015” Mining and Exploration Forum was held in Astana, Republic of Kazakhstan from 17 to 19 March 2015


"MINEX Central Asia” is one of the largest and most authoritative international events providing industry-wide discussion platform on mineral exploration and mining in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.  For the past six years, the Forum has played a significant role in promoting investment, technological and business partnerships in mining sector as well as facilitating international dialogue between local governments, mining companies, service providers, equipment producers and investors. 

MINEX Central Asia 2015 Forum brought together more than 300 senior executives and specialists from over 200 mining companies from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Austria, Japan, Russia, United Kingdom, France, Switzerland, Finland, Sweden, Germany, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and the USA. The key groups attending the Forum and visiting exhibition were International and National Mining and Exploration companies; Senior Government officials (Minister and Vice Minister level); Senior directors of the State Regulatory committees and State-owned Geological companies;  Mining Consultants and Engineers; Construction companies; Financial companies and Banks; Equity Funds and Institutional Investors; Mining software and equipment producers and distributors; Law Firms; Accountancy Firms; Commodity Traders; NGOs and Trade associations ; Mining design bureaus and research institutes. Over 60% of the Forum delegates were CEOs, MDs and board members.

The keynote addresses at the opening of the Forum were presented by Dr Carolyn Browne – Her Majesty’s Ambassador to the Republic of Kazakhstan; Paul Myler – Australia’s Ambassador to the Russian Federation, and concurrently to Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Armenia, Moldova and Belarus; Shavkat Bobozoda – Minister of Industry and New Technologies of the Republic of Tajikistan and Asset Issekeshev – Minister of Investment and Development, Ministry of Investment and Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Over 70 presentations and reports on the mining challenges and prospects in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan were made during the 10 sessions organised at the Forum and 4 pre-forum Master classes.

The key sessions of the Forum were covered by over 20 national and international media.

International trade and investment exhibition show was held on 18 – 19 March 2015 alongside the Forum. Open to visitors and general public, the show offered unique opportunities to both international and domestic companies to demonstrate their products, services and projects to highly sophisticated target audience. Over 700 senior managers and directors from Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, UK, Germany, France, Japan, Austria, Australia, USA, Canada and New Zealand visited the show.

A significant number of meetings were organised on the fringes of the Forum between the international companies and investors and the government-led delegations from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Australia which concluded with signage of international cooperation and partnership agreements.

Presentation of the 4th Central Asian Mining Photography Awards “Prospector. Miner. Metallurgist” was held at the Gala Dinner end of the Forum.
